Teams Working Towards This Vision

The Rail Alliance for Northern Illinois (T.R.A.I.N) is a grassroots action group with the sole purpose of using the voice of the people to persuade elected and appointed officials to “get on board” and bring passenger rail from Chicago to Rockford and Northern Illinois via Belvidere, Marengo, and Huntley. The group often hosts community workshops and public discussions to inform the community of rail related items.

In 2017, group members representing many different cycling clubs and many different cycling styles formed I Bike Rockford (IBR). The goal was to meet face-to-face, work together and speak in one voice as advocates for better cycling conditions, and to grow the cycling culture in Rockford and beyond. IBR focuses its efforts on Safety, Events & Education, and Policy & Advocacy. The group holds regular meetings to update members on the work of the committees and news about projects and events happening in the Rockford Region. IBR also hosts annual events such as Cycle on 2ndTour de Frost and Swarm the Market.
