Teams Working Towards This Vision

815 Choose Civility is a multilayered project involving the media, public institutions and the private sector that promotes and teaches civility as an antidote to civic dysfunction. The team works with three subgroups: education (leadership & youth), the public square and diversity. A project of Transform Rockford, 815 Choose Civility encourages all residents to take the civility pledge, “I pledge to conduct myself in a way that is honest, respectful, considerate and kind, even toward those with whom I disagree.” See how some of our local community members are promoting civility in the region. Watch WREX’s Inspiring 815 segments.

Compassionate Impacts, a project of Transform Rockford, creates ways to engage the community in acts of service to help those in need by facilitating “Service to All, and Service By All.” The goal is to transform the community’s compassion by encouraging random acts of kindness to aligned efforts with impactful outcomes.

All organizations can be actively engaged in the Compassionate Impacts project, including: Church & Faith Based Organizations, Social & Human Service Organizations, Nonprofits, Government Organizations, Health Care Systems, Businesses and Individuals, allowing us to create a city-reaching network of organizations to meet community needs.

Winnebago County Board Chairman Frank Haney and City of Rockford Mayor Tom McNamara have partnered with the Winnebago County Health Department to establish a Youth Leadership Council with the goal to – build leaders today and retain leaders tomorrow. The Council is comprised of students from public and private high schools in Winnebago County. As a member of the Council, students attend advisory meetings & project meetings, help host special events and participate in community service efforts throughout the region.
